HOW IT ALL BEGAN

The founder of PPL, Jeffrey Leep, has always been an early adopter of innovative technology.  In the 1970s, his affinity for all things electronic led him to wire his concert bassoon through a wah-wah pedal to create music that delighted and baffled rock ‘n’ roll audiences (“Is that sound coming from the big oboe…?”)

In the 1990s, he brought together his experience as a performer, band leader and sound engineer to create Leep Entertainment, a company that provides a wide variety of talent and production assistance for events of all types and sizes.

Even in his early days as a booking agent, Jeffrey saw that the business could be vastly improved through computerization.  In 1996, he and one of his employees developed a prototype, based on existing spreadsheet technology.  The software project took a back seat to daily tasks, though, as Jeffrey found himself in the vicious circle of needing more time to create a computerized system and needing a good computerized system to give him that free time.

Finally in 2003 he took the plunge and hired a professional software development company to bring his vision to reality.  PPL® is the result of this collaboration.  For four years, Jeffrey used the ‘working versions’ of PPL® to run his business and found he was able to substantially increase both productivity and accuracy.
